PEP partners in the organization of a video-conference between students in Senegal and Canada

On February 5-6, 2013, University Laval in Canada held the second edition of the "International Development Student Symposium" gathering - through the use of digital campuses and videoconferencing - students from Canada and Senegal to share and discuss ideas related to a variety of development issues.

PEP was a partner of the event and its African office team (based in Dakar) was part of the local organizing committee in Senegal.

The conference was held under the theme "Local and Regional Participation: Perspectives on International Development." Sessions focused, for example, on issues related natural resource management, gender and equity, local governance and urban planning as well as corporate social responsibility, all through the theme of development.

In addition, Mr. Diery Seck, Director of the Centre for Economic Policy Research in Dakar and former economist at the World Bank shared with the guests on the theme "Towards a single currency for the ECOWAS?.

The purpose of this conference is to create a platform for students from Senegal and Canada - and from various academic fields - to share ideas regarding issues related to international development.
