Special training workshop for PEP-PAGE researchers in CGE modeling and macro-micro simulation techniques

Dakar, Senegal - November 9-11

Four PEP research teams, currently supported under the first funding round of the PAGE program initiative, were invited to send two of their team members to participate in a special PEP training workshop. The objective of this training was to strengthen their capacity in the application of advanced CGE modelling and macro-micro simulation techniques (find out more about the method).

The workshop was held in Dakar, Senegal - hosted/organized by the PEP African Office team - and gathered a total of eight participants from four different PAGE projects (all from low-income countries, fragile and/or conflict states) - Niger, Burundi, Burkina Faso and Central African Republic - with PEP resource persons and modelling experts Bernard Decaluwe and Helene Maisonnave.

The event was an opportunity to review the progress of the four research project teams, who presented their interim research reports to the PEP experts, while receiving customized scientific training, guidance and technical support to ensure that the final outcomes meet the highest international standards in terms of research quality.

This workshop was made possible by the support of DFID and IDRC, through their funding of the current PAGE program initiative (for "Policy Analysis on Growth and Employment" - PAGE - in developing countries), which reserved extra funding for PEP to provide additional support and training for project teams from LICs, fragile and/or conflict states.

PEP is currently accepting new proposals for the second PAGE funding round (follow the link for details on eligibility, priority issues, application procedures, etc.). Deadline to submit is December 10, 2013.
